Official: No plans to give Russia’s DIA new loan on banks’ purge
MOSCOW, Nov 25 (PRIME) -- The Russian central bank has no plans to provide a new loan to the Deposit Insurance Agency (DIA) to compensate depositors of banks which have lost their licenses, Deputy Finance Minister Alexei Moiseyev told reporters Wednesday.
“By now, they must take out the remaining sum from the110 billion (rubles), and there are no more plans so far,” Moiseyev said.
On Tuesday, the central bank cancelled licenses of four more banks, including Nota-Bank, one of Russia’s top-100 by assets. Nota-Bank’s liabilities to first-priority creditors were valued at 5.5 billion rubles, liabilities of the other banks are unknown so far.
A DIA representative said that if needed, the loan can be extended.
